I must agree with you. I just found that the CCIE Service Provider
BRKCCIE-9163 document has new numbers:

Total of Worldwide CCIEs: 31,286*

Total of Routing and Switching CCIEs: 22,601

Total of Security CCIEs: 3,615

Total of Service Provider CCIEs: 2,525

Total of Voice CCIEs: 1,895

Total of Storage Networking CCIEs: 183

Total of Wireless CCIEs: 39

Total with Multiple Certifications Worldwide: 3,085*

Total of Routing and Switching and Security CCIEs: 941

Total of Routing and Switching and Service Provider CCIEs: 891

Total of Routing and Switching and Voice CCIEs: 417

Total with 3 Certifications 443

Total with 4 or More Certifications 108

*Updated 2-Apr-2012

In January we had 93 Wireless CCIEs now we have 39

It seems the CCIE database is completely broken

This is one of those things where everyone has a different answer due to
varying sources (all Cisco of course).

Even within Cisco I'm betting they don't agree.

Although, Eman is supposed to be friends with the CCIE program lady.
Based on that, I'll use Eman's number over Brad's article.
