distribute-list out rip

Hi All

I have a following config :

router ospf 1

 router-id 10.250.3.48

 no log-adjacency-changes

redistribute rip metric 400 metric-type 1 subnets tag 12

 distribute-list 1 out rip

i understand from this is when routes from RIP go in OSPF ; they will be as
per distribute-list 1 .

If i do the same as :

router ospf 10
redistribute rip route-map < >

and do same thing in route-map .. i think i can do same ..

Is there something specific that distribute-list does ?

The reason for asking is that in XR ..... i dont see RIP as option :

RP/0/0/CPU0:r1(config-ospf)#distribute-list TEST out ?

  bgp Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

  connected Connected

  dagr Directed-attached gateway redundancy (DAGR)

ospf Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
  static Static routes

Hence route-policy will be my friend ?

Thnx
