Re: CCIE certification value.

Gal's?! you mean there are girls on here?! Oh my!!

It is one of those things isn't it, there are people who obtain the CCIE as
padding for their CV, get the cert and forget the rest. There are people
who truly become experts and are amazing! and of course there are people
who cheat their way to the top...

I think that is the danger of any certification program, I have interviewed
CCNP's and CCNA's myself, some of whom couldn't tell me how to connect to a
device (its called a console cable people!!) yet when it came to their
performance on the job they were alright...

Does it affect the value of the certification - yes and no. The people like
yourself who care will look for people who have the experience and know
their stuff regardless of their level of certification, then there are
hiring HR managers or agents with no clue who will look only for the CCIE
number and hire anyway...

The thing that keeps coming up in all these conversations about the value
of the cert and the cheating is that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme
of things - as long as you watch out for yourself and make sure YOU are
doing the right thing, that you have the right motivation and reason for
obtaining the cert then you have done the right thing. If you go into an
interview against someone with dishonest intentions you are the person that
is going to get the job - not them!

Just my 2 rambling cents
