L2Transport command

Hi Team,

What is the exact use of l2transport command ?

Cisco states it is use to configure the physical interface in L2 transport
mode. Also, we can't configure ip address commands on the physical
interface.

If such is the case, does the "switchport" and "l2transport" commands has
same effects?
