Depends on what platform you've , as well as p2p or point to multipoint
scenario:
I guess your application is vmotion or redundant data center so that you
can move VM's across in emergency!
Here are the possible options:
1. L2TPV3 (point2point)
2. VPLS (point2multipoint - Sup2T on cat6k or 76xx or ASR platform)
3. OTV (Only supported in Cisco Nexus platform)
4. LISP
If you own the infrastructure, use LISP! it's very cheap and you don't need
layer2 extension. Keep it layer3 and use Cisco IOS's funky feature called
LISP (cisco.com/go/lisp)
