Broadcast strom contol - Unicast traffic affected

Hi,

We had some broadcast storms in our network. I applied the following
command on the uplink switch on selected ports to have zero broadcast
packets;

*storm-control broadcast level pps 0*

This blocked out even the unicast traffic creating some panic, can anybody
explain why this happened.
