The goal would be to move all data center access vlans to the nexus
using virtual port channels for servers same going back to
distribution (all based on design). goal of nexus is to move away from
use of spanning-tree. when i rolled out dual 7010's about 2 years
back, I didn't enable spanning-tree feature. Used all VPC's , created
SVI s and L3 interfaces back to core routing. Actually, I didn't even
enable routing feature and added one static back to my core router. I
did use GLBP and created L3 svi's for vlans and l3 routed ports back
to core.
So best answer is 'it depends'. matters on placement of equipment,
what was purchased, and what is attempting to be accomplished. Not
sure if that put things full circle to the origional question but hope
it helps from a best practice stand point when thinking about goals of
Nexus.
Regards,
Marc
