You also need the software to support the gig-e modules or they will not come online in addition to the IOS.

Also check out the HW compatibility of the modules that you've in chassis
with S720.
I ran into an issue when customer didn't tell me all the modules that they
were using. GBIC interface only supported 100 mb. 1Gb was failing to
negotiate with 720 IOS.
