Sometimes you need to work backwards on the documentation for a topic that you don't already know where it's located.

For example with the logging sequence numbers if you already knew that the syntax was "service sequence-numbers" but not what section it's in the documentation, go to the master index of commands (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/mcl/124tmcl/124t_book.html), then to the section that includes "service" alphabetically and find the "service sequence-numbers" command. This redirects you to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/fundamentals/command/reference/cf_r1.html#wp1013066. If you go to the top of this page it says that it's part of "Cisco IOS Configuration Fundamentals Command Reference". This means that in the configuration guides it would be under the "Configuration Fundamentals" section.

Unfortunately sometimes you end up in a dead-end with these searches because the html links on Cisco's website and in the documentation are constantly changing. If you can't find what you're looking for you may try moving up a version, for example checking in IOS 15.0's documentation, or back a version, like 12.4 Mainline.

You can see more information about this in the video "Using the Cisco Documentation" from INE's CCIE R&S Advanced Technologies Class here: http://goo.gl/9jLO4

Good luck in your studies!

Subject: R/S DoC CD I dont find this basic information :)

Sorry for bothering you with this basic question. All labs I do, I make sure I find the section in the DoC CD. By clicking my way there, not search.

Now I am doing a some basic stuff with the terminal.

- Console Message with Seq number. I do not find this on the DocCD
- Disable timestamps for all console messages etc

PS. I do know how to configure this, but I do want to find this on the DocCD
