No, it does not...

If you look closer to what Karthik says, he was complaining that
sw3 and sw4 (clients) do not learn any longer from sw2 (server)
when sw1 is in transparent mode.
The first message has sw1 and sw2 roles reversed, it seems.

It would help to have the topology, but sounds like sw1 is in the path
from sw2 to sw3 and sw4. (second message semantics)

So what he is saying is that transparent is not being transparent to VTP.
