Also, make sure you read up on layer 3 routing and VPC, particularly when connected to load balancers and Netapp heads. Routing adjacencies also need to be considered. Brad Hedlund has a good post on those issues and the supported topologies. To be build on what Ronnie mentioned, if you're considering VPC+ you're limited to 8 FEX's total. Single attached FEX's support 8 per 5500, allowing 16 total for the pair.
