Get whatever you believe you need to get in order to find the job that
you want.

If you think you need a PhD, then go for it. Seems to be a silly
requirement for employment, but I have no idea where you are trying to
work. Perhaps you don't want to be the ONLY guy without "Doctor" as
part of their name. ;)

If you need other certs, then by all means get them. But the biggest
thing is to know your target. Where are you trying to work? What do
they need? What do they want? Do you want to fit that, or do you want
to go elsewhere?

Don't think you'll magically get employment just because you are a pony
with more than one trick. You have to be able to DO things as well!
All of the certs in the world won't matter if you can't do stuff. But
your ability to be versatile or to learn things may be highlighted by
those. Do you rely on your potential employer to pick up on that, or do
you sell yourself properly?

If selling yourself properly, you can overcome other 'shortcomings'
along the way.

But don't go out just to hope for a decent job. That's not the way
things should be. Figure out how to differentiate yourself. Figure out
how to be better.

My two cents.
