YMMV I guess... everyone has different goals and aspirations, and
different vehicles for getting there. I've been working full time since
1998, while I was still working on my BS degree. I got my CCIE in 2007.
I've been working on the CCDE since 2008. I've advanced my career 4
times...

Could I have gotten a BS, Masters, or PhD in that time? It never even
occurred to me to try because I have no desire to sit in a classroom every
day. I already have a great job and most classes are irrelevant to what I
do. Hell, that's why I never even finished my BS - because in my opinion,
that's exactly what it is!
