Hi Tom,
I have just been searching through the Groupstudy archives and found a post
you made regarding WAN emulation appliances.
We are in a position to purchase a WAN emulator for the purpose of testing
applications and simulating WAN environments before making decisions as to
where to deploy server infrastructure.
What I am particularly interested in is the ability to report on application
statistics for particular "flows" or application sessions through the WAN
sim (Take JDE/Oracle sessions for example).
Any advice you could offer in this area would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Aaron.

Shunra has a product if you are looking for a hardward or software
solution. It's pretty nice, all depends on what you are trying to do. OPNET
has a very sophisticated WAN Simulation, but it's really pricey and used
for simulation not emulation. If it's just some quick to do little testing,
I agree get at VM, you can search for a VMware appliance on their website.
What exactly do you want to use it for and I may be able to help you.
