I think his issue would be boredom with R/S, albeit, that's probably
the path with the least barrier to double IE.

You should look at where you think you're going with your career. You
work for a large player, and I'd imagine you're doing well there. Do
you want to stay there in the capacity you're in? Or, do you want to
stay there, but move to another capacity? Or, perhaps get another
expert proficiency and see what doors open elsewhere.
