This is a fairly common issue with a lot of Service providers. Most of them
prefer static or BGP. Although I am beginning to see OSPF and EIGRP being
implemented by some of them. This provider seems to still be set in their
ways and I honestly cannot blame them.
You do no harm by running BGP as it will most certainly scale and give you
more options with Service Provider.
The only harm would be a lack of comfort with BGP, if it existed.
