Re: MAC Address vs IP Address Purpose.

I will tread lightly then.

Like some of the folks have already pointed out. The MAC is generally
considered relevant to the broadcast domain in question and is locally
significant where the IP has its obvious WAN reachibility. What
specifically are you questioning beyond that?
