I turn on keep alive on the tunnel, it keeps on, even I can ping each other
through the tunnel interfaces.

what Interfaces are your tunnels destination on your router? And do you can
connectivity between the two destination IP address.

 

By default GRE tunnels do not have keepalives on. if you turn on keep alive
you should see the tunnel Drop.
