I agree with this. There is no reason at all for using subnet
calculators. The only time I use them is if I need to verify my
calculations because I'm too tired to think straight and that happens
like once every 2 years or so. It is easy when you have done it a couple
of times. I usually use 256 - subnetmask for calculating subnets. So if
we have 192.168.1.0/27 that is 256 - 224 = 32 hosts in each subnet. So
the subnets are 0, 32, 64, 96...and so on. If I need to calculate the
inverse mask I do 255 - subnetmask which is 255 - 224 = 31 so that is
0.0.0.31. This works very well and and on top of that you add experience
and now you never have to use a subnet calculator again.
