There is a Mobile and Wireline Carrier Ethernet design guide available under NDA from your Cisco channel/friend. It's codename was (or still is) Tahoma. These are always updated according to the current HW and best practices (sometimes "too best", that make the design quite expensive). So there are 3600/3800X, ASR9000, etc.
Ask your Cisco contact about it - it is not published to the CCO.
