Guys, I gotta ask why some of you are irritated with the cost and T&E? I
for one am against local pearson testing.
$1500 for a lab exam cert that in many places (not all) will guarantee a
six figure salary? DONE. I've taken the lab several times. They have
some of my companies money and at least once I paid for it myself. Will
I do it again? YES. Do I like paying $1500? NO. But will I again? YES.
A couple of days off work and a flight and hotel at a testing center?
DONE. Would it be easier to go down to the mall and sit in a closet on
wheels that looks like one of those stupid photo booths? YES. Do I want
that? NO. Do I like to fly? NO. Will I do it again? YES.
Most folks in the community still agree that the CCIE is one of the top
certs out there. Part of that effort is the process of getting it. YOU
HAVE TO WANT IT. If I could take off work the next three Fridays in a
row and go down to the mall and hammer away the basic odds say that
eventually I'll pass. I DON'T WANT THAT FOR ANYONE. EVER.
It does scare me that business seems to be getting in the way of the
exam. I actually preferred the old two day exam that was hands on and
you had the proctor sit down with you afterwards and tell you what you
did right and wrong. For the money I feel you deserve a better
explanation. But those days are gone. Hopefully Cisco is making the
right decisions...
