The certification is still only a certification after all. The demand for
IT talent fluctuates all over the world. CCIEs are in highest demand from
Cisco resellers. In the emerging markets when these companies hear about
indicators in their economy or that Cisco is doing layoffs then they play it
safe and pause to take in the effects on their business. Typically Africa
in general has a steady demand for CCIEs from the resellers but as the
deadline for the Cisco cuts looms a lot of companies are waiting to see what
the effects are.
I can attest to the fact that a lot of hiring happens without advertising
the search. Your networking is what will help get the word on positions and
projects.
Our demand (CCIE Agent, Limited) in Africa has been on a roller coaster so I
just started a new recruiter in Nigeria this week. So I for one feel the
investment will pay off well.
