Being smart, serious, hard working, calm under pressure and proven is always extremely rare and valuable.
Cisco doesn't have to be the ONLY game in town for the CCIE to be great... I'm a CCIE who does more vmware, exchange, Microsoft, storage, sans, mobile applications,
Financial applications and dozens of other things than Cisco every day... But, the CCIE made me serious enough to learn all of them at the same "in depth" level as I learned Cisco to pass the lab.
Just yesterday I walked in a company and found 10 things in 2 hours that have plagued the company's network for months and gravely effected business operations.
Some Cisco/networking, some not.
I like this saying "How you do anything, is how you do everything"
Think about it....

Subject: Is CCIE loosing its value?
Hello Guys,
I i have observer that the demand for CCIE's is dwindling by the day.
I am of the opinion that the CCIE certificate is not as a valuable and prestigious as it was like some five years ago.
This may be due to the fact that Cisco is facing stiff competition from other companies out there.
Also, with the advent of virtualisation where you can have virtual switches, firewalls and routers most people don't even think they need to buy the Cisco boxes anymore.
So am asking is the CCIE certificate still worth all the effort and the sleepless nights??
Your thought pls!!!!
