you can use following commands as an example

IP_ADDRESS=172.16.1.1
IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.0
DEFAULT_GATEWAY=172.16.1.1
TFTP_SERVER=172.16.1.2
TFTP_FILE=c1841-ipbasek9-mz.124-24.T.bin

then
tftpdnld -r will download and boot from mem, it will not save downloaded ios
to flash if you used -r option. This is particular useful if you are
suspected of a partially failed flash/storage medium.
