No benefit of configuring vlans from database mode over global config mode .
In fact ; this is being depreciated as well .
For your second part of question ; if you wish to see vlan in running
-config ; switch to VTP mode transparent .
To see vlan info :
show vlan
show vtp stat
show vlan summ
