Hi Roy,

In the CCIE lab you can perform whichever method achieves the goals of the
task provided that you comply with the restrictions. Generally it helps to
know all of your options because you may not be able to able to use your
preferred method or you need to use more than one way in the overall
solution.

The thing to recall is that CCIE Lab is not about real world implementation
or best practices, it is a synthetic test about meeting the task
requirements with the appropriate pass level in the time frame available.
The expert part is knowing across the scope of the blueprint how to select
the appropriate tool for the job (and/or being able to find it in short
order should you not know what it is) and why it is appropriate (or not) and
be able implement it within the timeframe allocated. Some tasks may
influence others so being aware of the impacts of various pieces as well as
making the routers and switches dance to the tune you play is what matters.

Having a ping script validating reachability across nodes does not
necessarily mean that you get the points if you didn't achieve all of the
objectives and didn't conform to all of the restrictions within a
task/sub-task (and remember that within a sub-task there are no partial
points)

Cheers,
Adam
