I can run the full INE topology on my laptop with idlemax set at only 20%
CPU. It's just a regular Core2 Duo with 4GB RAM. So idlemax definitely makes
a difference. Using the right image and idle-pc and idlemax you should be
able to do the same. I find it comfortable to be able to bring up my laptop
on my commute and do some labs if I want. Otherwise I would recommend doing
an Ubuntu install with Dynamips and Dynagen. I've written a lot about
Dynamips on my blog http://lostintransit.se on loadbalancing hypervisors etc
but with idlemax set I find that I don't need it.
