Two devices having trouble pinging each other sounds fairly common IMO ...

If you have done all you can to tshoot, be sure to ask the proctor to check
on the real equipment. Another reason to ask the proctor is because the
diagrams are confusing IMO. You may be looking at something that should be
connected, but really the diagram is stating something different.

When L3 (ping) is broken, you would start at the bottom and work your way up
IMO. In the lab, there are supposed to be NO L1 issues ... so, with this in
mind, I think this would speed up your tshoot and or config sections.
Everything is cabled as indicated in the diagrams.
