PPPoE Authentication is done the same for PPP using serial links - that is
you can do no authentication, CHAP, PAP, EAP and the microsoft flavours of
CHAP. In fact you can authentication in a single direction or both
directions (mutual authentication) and if you do both directions you don't
have to use the same authentication protocols.
