So basically this is/is this how it works ;
I have the below configs on my router
interface Loopback0
ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
!
interface Loopback1
ip address 2.0.0.4 255.255.255.255
i do sh run normally, it would gather information from all interfaces and
then display it. NOW i use the "parser config cache interface" command and
do show run again, it again takes a "longer time" but this time caches the
information . I do a sh run for a second time, the display information from
cache, is faster. Upto here its cool.
Cisco Doc says "
Each time the interface configuration of an interface changes, the interface
cache of the specified interface is flushed. The other interface data
remains cached as before. Entering an NVGEN-type command after modifying the
interface configuration will once again not show much evidence of
improvement until the next NVGEN-type command is entered."
so if i change ANYTHING on the configs, for example now my configs are as
below
interface Loopback0 ====== SAME
ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
!
interface Loopback1 ======= CHANGED
ip address 100.100.100.100 255.255.255.255
*I do the show run again will it take the same amount of time as the initial
show run as the cache is flushed when configs are changed ?* If I have a 200
interfaces, i change the config on just one of em. Will it flush the whole
configs ( NOT, according to the cisco doc above" so why does it say
"Entering an NVGEN-type command after modifying the interface
configuration
will once again not show much evidence of improvement until the next
NVGEN-type command is entered."" ???

Ahmed
