my ios (12.4(15)T12-adventerprise) shows this being sent/received on the
interface level and does not work with auth on the main on one side and sub
on the other...

using 'debug eigrp packets' i see this failing on the s0/0 on one side and
the s0/0.1 on the other...

what does you config and debugs show?
