I understand the concept behind CIR=BC/TC, but I do not understand what is
happening at the packet level. What I understand of the bit bucket is that
is just a imaginary concept to help teach the policing traffic. In the
physical level the packet will be processed in the CPU by a queuing
algorithm for the specific type of queue in use and then policed or sent on
the packet journey of life. Is this a correct assumption or is the bit
bucket more then just a concept.
On the same line of though what is a Queue. Is it a logical part of the ram
or are there specific memory chips on the output interfaces. If it is part
of a logical portion of the RAM why are Queues limited.
