Actually,
I while back before the BPDU guard and enhancement features were added, We
used to have that very problem of receiving a BPDU on a non-trunking port
and it used to wreak Havoc. In short, the tag was not ignored and really
messed up spanning-tree.
Then again...the customer was trying to bridge through several
routers....very ugly.
