I've configured windows OS as rip listener before. (i recall in some older versions it was setting a registry key, but I think in newer versions it's a windows option/component installable from add/remove programs) You can run rip on the subnets/vlans to the pc's from the 6500's. Perhaps only inject route you wish the pc's to learn, or perhaps only def rt. It seems that anything else I think of with simple dual def gateways might not work nice with carrier detect being up on interface to access switch, test it, also test dual def gw's with different metric, maybe arp cache timeouts need to be considered too...just brainstorming
Fhrp's (glbp,hsrp,vrrp,etc) might be good as someone previously mentioned, rstp in network, root bridges pri/sec on 6500's
