You can configure igmpv3 on an interface and then do a static join
with either igmp join-group or igmp static-group. Since it's SSM,
you'll need to remember to include the source IP in that command. Then
just ping the group from the source and you should get a reply. If
everything is working, you'll see the S,G mroutes all along the path.

I don't know about the ip sla piece.
