Hi Abderrahim how are you? I just got back from a long trip, so i hope time
zones have not screwed me up that bad, but here is a very basic overview and
i hope it helps.

Lets say we have two domains, D-A and D-B.

Lets assume that a receiver in D-B joins a Mcast group 224.1.1.1.

The DR sends a (*,G) for this group to the RP. This builds a branch of the
shared tree from the RP in D-B to the DR.

When a source in D-A is initiated (Goes active), the 1st hop router sends
PIM register messages to the RP.

The RP originates a (S,G) SA msg for this source and sends it to its MSDP
peer in D-B. These messages are sent for as long as the source is active.

When the RP in D-B receives these messages and of course an RPF check is
performed and if successful, the RP responds to the SA msg by sending a
(S,G) join toward the source.

Once the (S,G) join message is received by the 1st hop router in D-A, the
(S,G) traffic begins to flow to the RP in D-B via SPT (Source tree).
