802.1x VLAN

I have an easy question...which is kind of hard for me to verify in my
own lab right now.

If I drop an access port in to VLAN 17 and then apply "dot1q
port-control auto" (assuming dot1x is configured properly) without the
guest VLAN option will the clients that authenticates be placed in
VLAN 17?

I am afraid I am missing something here, is it this simple?
