As already mentioned configure the switch to use Uplinkfast, this increases the STP propriety value to 49152. If all other switches are on default this switch can NEVER become root bridge.

Then, root-guard will not do for at least two things:
-It is not configured in "the switch", but on neighbours
-It will not prevent "the switch" from becoming root. In fact, there
will be more than one root :)
