I think there's a few things here to consider:

It's still an immature voice system, because they just haven't been doing it
that long. You'll find some features like FAC that may seem minor, and find
out they're a large requirement. I won't try to list these features, as
every company has their own set they deem important.

Also yes, it's funny how many other IP PBX manufacture's started out on
Windows platforms and have migrated away because of reliability (Cisco
included).

If you're using RTAudio codecs in a enterprise WAN, have fun trying to do
CAC with a dynamic codec as well.

Be ready to bring in a number of third party products to help fill out their
portfolio. Contact center being the big, important one.

I'm not a hugely informed OCS/Lync guy, but these are the points I would
think about. From a pricing perspective I hear it's not "free" anymore, but
it's still 'sticky' when you consider the bundling and software maintenance.
