Hello Ben,

the formats for RD used for VPNv4 address are: AS:nn or IP:nn - nn being any
unique value.

Now I found this format of RD (X:AS:nn) while reading some stuff on
Multiprotocol BGP and multicast - X here is basically the route
"distinguisher type"
This comes in play while dealing with multicast tunnels via P-routers on the
provider network - which in other words allows the transport of end user
multicast traffic with GRE.

That all I could say; I actually drop that topic since it was not on the R&S
blueprint.

I'm sure others going for SP should be able to elaborate.
