*R1 and R3 are the sopokes of FR network of which R2 is the hub.*
* *
*R1 is the MA R2 is the rp. pim flavor is sparse and igp is OSPF . R2 fa0/0
and R4 f0/0 are not running pim . pim running interfaces are colored .*
**
*however on R3 i am unable to see rp mappings even though IP PIM NBMA-MODE
is enbled on hub router along with auto rp listener command.*
**
R4 is the client and R3 is the DR on the segment .

questions :

1) why R3 is not getting MA messages. does pim nbma command only applies to
data plane ?? (i did static rp mapping as a last choice. )

2) how DR informs to RP about the receiver ? i mean unicast or multicast
...becasue the Rp (lookback on R2) address is rechable R3----R4-----R2
which is not running PIM.

even though R3 the DR is directly connected to RP over FR it is routing
throuh R3--R4--R2 because of lower IGP metric .

Does that mean RP will not hear about receiver . (static mroute is
configured on R2 saying it is okay to receives igmp joins on s0/0 for
Receiver (R4 loopback) . as unicast route is pointing towards fa0/0
directly connected to R4 .)

IS there any command that give the info about receivers who joined a
perticular group on RP ??

Regards
