Simple Policing

Hi,

I have been studying MQC traffic policing but I am not sure if I am
understanding it correctly.
Can someone please help me out?

As an example, if I wanted to police the traffic on an interface to
ensure that per second the traffic
received on this interface did not exceed 1Mbp would the following config be ok:

policy-map POLICE
class class-default
police cir 1000000
conform-action transmit
exceed-action drop

In this example would I need to tune the Bc or Be values or is it just
better to let IOS decide?

I was reading some examples in a workbook and it specifies that
changing the Bc value can lead
to too much traffic being marked as conforming or exceeding. I
couldn't really understand the explanations though.

Please help, this is really confusing me.

Thanks
