Now, I certainly don't want to get into a mathematical debate with you
because I know I would lose, and most likely not even understand why....
BUT.... If you measure something in a negative sense, wouldn't it still
have a "length" that is an absolute value even if the placement of it is
in the negative?
For example, a length of -5 to -1 is "longer" than from 1 to 3.
Shifting planes, however doesn't change a value of length (difference
between two numbers). But anyway, I haven't had anywhere near enough
alcohol to keep up much beyond that. ;)
