The OS is free and these days you just about don't have to know any Linux to
run it. Works great. And with the popularity of Ubuntu you can get any
question answered within the first three or four google results. I have full
IPExpert labs running now and I have run full INE labs in the past. Or, you
could start your journey to the dark side with some good old fashioned
Debian.

Mike,
What version of windows XP are you using? b&64 bit or 32 bit? I used
64 bit
windows XP with dynamip and dynagen (no way for GNS3) with 4 instance
(each
instance 3-5 routers) and I can able to run full lab without any issue.
(with
OSPF, BGP, Multicast). It wont go more than 60 - 80% CPU utilization.
From my
experience use 64-bit windows XP OS. If you want to run more routers
then split
your instance between PCs.
my PC config was dual core with 4GB
RAM. I remember 32-bit OS wont support more
than 3GB RAM

I strongly
recommend windows XP 64 bit for dynamic. In Apple Mac there is no way
to
emulate ASA. so better stay with windows. just my thoughts :-)
