You can configure a static IP (and sometimes have to do so), either from the
WLC GUI after it has joined or using the CLI command "lwapp ap ip address
x.x.x.x 255.255.255.0" (or whichever netmask you need) and "lwapp ap ip
default-gateway x.x.x.x". {Plus, if you use the CLI, you would normally
also need to configure "lwapp ap controller ip address x.x.x.x", where
x.x.x.x is the management interface of the WLC.
You don't need to use DHCP option 43 for the AP to find a WLC. In fact, I
prefer not to, if I can help it. Staging the AP on the same subnet as the
management interface of the WLC is easiest, or I use DNS.

I don't think you can configure static IP in LWAP. :) If I remember
correctly
LWAP must get IP and VCI (Option 43) from DHCP server.
