Narbik,

It makes sense to me that everyone (vendors/training companies) take the
time to figure out a plan on what to do and what equipment will need to
be purchased as well as what the topologies will look like to support
the technologies and features. I know it is hard to do this when
customers want everything "now." Regarding the IPX racks; I couldn't
agree more with you. Wayne and Co. have that nailed down. Their system
is pretty slick and it has been rare that I have had issues with their
racks. Any issues I did have were dealt with quickly and professionally.
I think the changes announced are good for the program as well, but as
you mentioned, if students can't afford equipment to practice, find an
emulation program, or cannot access affordable rack rentals, they might
as well call it the "unicorn" CCIE J I am hopeful that Cisco has
something planned to assist with that hurdle.

Rob,

One of the main reasons Paul and I delayed and kept on delaying the
release of our CCIE SP Workbook is the fact that we wanted to see a
change before we continued, we almost gave up on that idea and we were
going to release our Workbook and sure enough Cisco made their
announcement.

Thank God we have been teaching the IOS XR for the longest time, i think
Paul was one of the first 5 instructors that taught the IOS XR, so we
know what we have to do as far as our CCIE SP Workbook, but as far as
equipment goes, hey.....i really don't know what and how many they are
going to have in the lab. But no matter what it is we are ready.

I know Wayne will be one of the first few to purchase anything that
needs to be purchased, that's if the emulation of IOS XR does not
transpire, and we will use their racks, just like our CCIE Security
Workbook (It will be out in 2 days) and boot camps. They provide a
fantastic support, and i highly recommend using their racks for
Security.

Even though i am in a way happy that Cisco did this, on the flip side, i
am worried about people that need to rent racks, i hope it does not cost
them too much. Let's see what Cisco does as far as emulation of IOS XR
and everything else goes for their partners. Once i find out i will let
everyone know.

I am sure that with every change we learn an unbelievable amount of
stuff, it's a win win situation.

Can you believe it? The new specs have been out for at least 8 hours now
:) C'mon guys, give the vendors some time to prepare here. I don't think
anyone would benefit from off the cuff promises about new gear,
bootcamps, or workbooks do you?
