I can not certainly say if there could EVER be a single solution to
CCDE training. The exam is quite special, as it has been designed by a
"special" group of people at Cisco :) The main problem, in my opinion,
is the fact that there could "multiple" correct answers. To make it
even worse, some of the answers are free-form. All this together makes
the grading process vague. Not to mention that the grading process for
a $1400 exam has never been clearly defined. Thus, even though I
passed the exam, I'm not really sure *how* :) I can only assume that
some of my answers were correct.
However, even though I am not sure that "classic" training products
(bootcamps or "special" workbooks) could be useful, I do believe that
self-study may *help* you pass the exam (though not guarantee it).
Right now, I am compiling the reading list that I was using during my
preparations - it is different from the "official" one. I am expecting
to post it this weekend or early next week. Additionally, I have been
also working on the "CCDE cheat sheet" document in my spare time,
summarizing some "generic" tips and ideas that I think are within the
scope of CCDE curriculum. This one would be posted later though, as I
tend to change a lot of content there :)
Anyways, if you do decide pursuing the CCDE certification, be aware
that the exam is even more vague than the CCIE :) The CCIE lab is more
linear and with most of the tasks you may at least imagine a way to
validate your solution. It is not like that with the CCDE - you may
only "assume" that your answers are optimal. The CCDE practical exam
sure puts your stamina to test, as it involves a lot of reading and
co-relating multiple information sources. This also makes the test a
bit harder to non-native English speakers, btw (hey, I never got that
"promised" 30 minutes exam extensions ;). With that being said, good
luck in your studies!
-- Petr PS Still no CCDE# from Cisco. It sucks being a CCDE without a number :) 2010/9/24 Craig Tompkins <sidalo_at_gmail.com>: > I second this question. > --- > Craig Tompkins > CCIE #16921 > > > On Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 4:22 AM, Larry H <larryh12203_at_gmail.com> wrote: > >> Might there be some CCDE training items on the horizon? >> >> Thanks >> Larry Hadrava >> CCIE #12203 >> >> Sent from my iPad >> >> On Sep 24, 2010, at 4:20 AM, Petr Lapukhov <petr_at_internetworkexpert.com> >> wrote: >> >> > Thank you! >> > >> > To be honest, I'm not sure if I should ever go for another CCIE :). >> > Just a few days ago, when I got my CCDE result I was thinking it may >> > be the time to finally complete the Storage track.
