Inter-AS Option2a not working with prefix list

Dear All,
              Kindly i faced a strange behavior during my Inter-AS LAB using
option 2a (redistribute connected)
here is the topology below

CE1---PE1---P1--PE2-----PE3---P2-----PE4-----CE2

when i redistributed the connected interface between PE1 & PE2 in the IGP of
both ASs using a prefix list , i coudn't have rechablilty between CE1 & CE2
although the connected subnet is propagated correctly to the IGP of both ASs

after some digging in to the problem i found that P1 & P2 didn't assign a
label to the /32 of the connected interface

while when i use access list to advertise the connected subnet through the
IGP , CE1 & CE2 was rechable to each other and a label is assigned for the
/32 on both P1 & P2

anyone can clarify to me why Option 2a worked well using access list to
advertise the connected subnet and didn't work when using a prefix list
