One thing that comes to mind is Scalability. Using static routes it is
cumbersome. Let's think in a scenario where there are 100 P routers in the
core and for that reason static routes are not preferred (You need 50x99
statements on each router). Also, we can think of advantages in using link
state protocol such as convergence etc. Regarding iBGP, same thing applies.
Also, since BGP is ran already across the core, there must be an IGP to tell
us how to switch packets based on labels.
