Pete,
I believe that if you are dedicated ipexpert's or internetworkexpert's
workbook can do the same job.
Another remark is that I don't believe you will be well prepared if you
don't practice 8 hour mock labs along the way. You have to get used
to configuring all those technologies to work together and be familiar
with how they interact. So for that you will need a second workbook.
With that said there are indeed differences on the approaches taken
by the different vendors. For a great deal it is just a matter of taste
however. But there are some practical points which may lead you to
prefer one workbook over the other.
The best points of the micronic's workbook are:
01) You will have the least hassle using micronic's workbook with dynamips.
If you do the switching labs on real hardware you can do the rest of
the workbook without problems on dynamips.
02) The approach of micronic's is to beat the technologies through mini
moc labs and to use the wordings in such a way to let you think about
what you are doing.
There also cons
Looking for root/loop guard you will not find them... still they are part
of the blueprint...
Probably every workbook will miss a couple of items which are on the blueprint.
And some will include a couple of items which are not on the blueprint or which
have been removed from the blueprint..
Every vendor has done a great job producing their workbooks.. the 'problem'
with the micronic's workbook is that it has been made by someone who is
a didactical genius.. it opens your eyes in different and exciting ways.
